For the 18th of May in the Hartford Area, the record low is 31 from 1984 - we tied that one. Thereafter, a gradual warming trend takes us to near 80 (inland, cooler at the shoreline) by Wednesday. ![]() Cooler air from the weekend’s cold front settles in for Monday, with highs in the lower 70s. The upcoming workweek still appears to feature a stretch of gorgeous weather as high pressure dominates. Temperatures will respond accordingly, going at least 10 degrees warmer than tomorrow, peaking in the mid-70s! Fortunately, Sunday still looks great! Any lingering cloud cover clears, giving way to ample sunshine. Looking for a silver lining? In addition to watering our yards and gardens, the rain will help quell pollen levels (albeit briefly). We’re running deficits of around 1.5″ for the month, to date. By then totals likely range from half an inch to an inch, with locally higher amounts. It all should end by daybreak Sunday, as the front clears the state. Then, with the arrival of a cold front from the west, the chance for rain will remain through the evening hours (a rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out). ![]() Initially it’s coming from the south as a disturbance moves up the coast. But as the day moves forward the likelihood for rain increases, especially later in the afternoon into the evening hours. If you have outdoor plans tomorrow, early in the day, you may be okay (just some spotty showers). While we certainly need rain, the timing is not ideal. While tomorrow will be cloudy, wet, and cool… Sunday still promises to feature dry, bright, and milder weather! Under a cloudier sky with a southerly wind, expect a milder night with lows between 50 and 55. After reaching the upper 60s and lower 70s, temps this evening slowly drop through the 60s into the 50s after sunset.
